M.J. Lindow is a generative artist from the western United States. Inspired by art from an early age, he was constantly drawing and painting. To pay for college, he designed and built stained glass windows at a local studio. While at school he became fascinated with code and its ability to multiply human capability and later worked as a data engineer and data analyst building scalable systems to improve human effectiveness. His work as a generative artist grows out of a continued desire to use code to build scalable systems that free creative potential.

Living in close proximity to the Rocky Mountains and the deserts of southern Utah, Lindow developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and is drawn to rugged and inhospitable places. He often incorporates the natural world and the landscapes he loves into his art. Fascinated by using computers to extend human ability, his work shows the hand behind the machine by adding artificial imperfections and ‘hand-drawn’ textures.

Elsif is a Chinese-Canadian visual artist and computer scientist, currently living in California. She has always had a keen interest in art and started drawing realistic portraits of people at a very young age as a way to learn facial features to cope with face blindness.

She was drawn to programming due to its infallibility and ability to automate and expedite what would otherwise be repetitive tasks. With a focus on experimentation in techniques and expression, Elsif creates digital art with geometric shapes and parametric curves, using lots of maths, some physics, and occasionally some machine learning. She also draws inspiration from both Eastern and Western cultures, demonstrating the beauty of algorithmic motifs and their connection to nature and human perception.

Leonardo Solaas is a creative coder and new media artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. For more than 20 years he’s been playing and working with generative systems, data visualizations, rule-based processes, social networks, games, NFTs, and other stuff made with code. He also writes and teaches on subjects close to the intersection between art, philosophy, and technology.

Ella Hoeppner is a generative artist from southwest Virginia. Her art explores themes of algorithmic elegance and the emergence of complex behavior from simple rules. Inspired by the interplay between science, mathematics, and art, Ella draws ideas from disciplines such as physics, biology, and computer science. Seeking to break new aesthetic ground with each piece, she combines classic generative art techniques with novel algorithmic explorations.
